Reupholstering much loved pieces that have been in your family for decades or giving a beautiful antique a much needed revamp, using traditional upholstery skills. These pieces are handcrafted using traditional tools, materials and stitching methods that have existed for centuries. All pieces are sympathetically restored to maintain their integrity.
Elaine O'Donovan
Upholsterer
Introducing
Elaine creates bespoke traditional and modern upholstered pieces to commission and has trained in traditional and modern upholstery. She enjoys transforming well-loved pieces to be treasured for decades to come. After two decades in the business world, Elaine embarked upon a more creative route. She studied for the AMUSF Traditional and Modern Upholstery Diploma at the School of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University. Elaine is developing her craft further at Grandey’s Place, and together with some of her former colleagues formed The Crafted Upholstery Collective. Being part of the collective enables her to develop and grow her skills with like-minded people also trained in the craft.
As well as traditional upholstery, Elaine has a passion for mid-century modern pieces and enjoys giving these beautiful chairs a new lease of life. Whether you are looking to preserve a piece of furniture that has been in your family for decades or looking to change a piece to fit a new interior, Elaine is available for commissions and trades under the name of The Upholstery Atelier.
