Grandey’s Metalworkers win Harlow Sculpture Town Commission

Published on Mon 12 Jan 2026 at 00:00

Congratulations to our bespoke metalworkers, Daniela Rubino and Lauren Wilson, who have been commissioned to create the next public sculpture for Harlow in Essex, a designated ‘Sculpture Town’.

Under the umbrella of Ore Projects, their free mentorship scheme, Daniela and Lauren collaborated with special educational needs students from the Harlow Fields School and College to create the concept, which nods to Harlow’s Roman past.

The pair won the Vintner House Public Sculpture Commission after a process that included a programme of public engagement at Harlow’s Gibberd Gallery. The final decision was taken by a panel of representatives from the commissioning body, Harlow Council, the Harlow Art Trust, and the local education partnership, Harlow Creates. The process took into account the views of the public who praised Ore Projects for their inclusivity, local connections and thoughtful engagement with Harlow’s heritage.

The new work will be the latest addition to the Harlow’s impressive collection of sculptures. The town boasts over 100 public artworks by sculptors such as Henry Moore, Auguste Rodin and Barbara Hepworth.
