Grandey’s welcomes Heritage Knitwear Apprentice
Published on Sat 9 May 2026 at 00:00
A very warm welcome from Grandey’s Place to Poppy Ruane, who has taken up an apprenticeship with our brilliant heritage knitwear designer, Genevieve Sweeney. Poppy, who’s 21, studied film at university but caught the knitwear bug after learning about Genevieve's apprenticeship opportunity. You can read more about Poppy HERE
Poppy is our second Grandey’s Place apprentice. In 2024 with the support of the Clockmakers Company, our antiquarian horologist, Seth Kennedy, took on Dr Víctor Pérez-Álvarez as an advanced apprentice in antique watchmaking and restoration. An advanced apprenticeship is reserved for those with prior knowledge of a specialism. You can read more about Víctor HERE
Education and passing on the wealth of craft experience gathered by our craftspeople during their years of training is central to our ethos here at Grandey’s Place. As well as apprenticeships, our craftspeople participate in tours, open days and school visits, and occasionally accept students for work experience placements. Many of our craftspeople also offer courses in their respective specialisms. For more information about our courses, visit our Creative Courses page HERE
