QEST Scholarship for Grandey’s Knitwear Designer

Published on Sat 20 Jun 2026 at 00:00

Very many congratulations to our heritage knitwear designer, Genevieve Sweeney, who has just been awarded a scholarship by the crafts skills and education charity, the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST).

Genevieve, who runs her luxury British knitwear brand from Grandey’s Place, has a deep commitment to heritage craft, combining traditional techniques with modern design. Her QEST Scholarship will support hands-on training in specialisms such as linking, frame knitting, invisible finishing and hand intarsia - skills she sees as vital for safeguarding British knitwear traditions for future generations.

Grandey’s Place is now home to seven resident QEST scholars and funds a further six QEST Scholarships and Emerging Maker grants.
